LG GW990 Review
In brief
A large smartphone with a giant touchscreen, the LG GW990 has a number of advanced functions and a quick processor.
Look and Feel
The screen on the LG GW990 dominates the front of the phone, measuring an impressive 4.8 inches. Naturally, the handset is sizeable as a result of this, although the exact details have not been confirmed. The corners of the smartphone are rounded to enhance how comfortable it is to hold.
The images displayed on the massive screen – far bigger than even the likes of the
HTC HD2 which sports a 4.3 inch screen – are vibrant and clear. You can enjoy watching a movie on this screen and it supports 3D images too. Browsing the internet is pleasant as there is little need to scroll through the pages, although if you do you will find a simple swipe of your finger against the LG GW990’s touchscreen will suffice. The speed with which the screen responds to your finger commands is level with the
iPhone and
iPhone 3G S.
To look at, the LG GW990 resembles the iPhone too although it is quite a bit longer.
Special features
The size of the screen on the LG GW990 allows you to enjoy mobile communication. If you are a fan of doing a number of things at once, this smartphone will support this. Perhaps you want to send a quick email while you glance at a film and check your recently-taken photos? Well, on the LG GW990, you can, thanks to the powerful processor which lets you run several applications at the same time, dividing the screen accordingly.
The processor in the LG GW990 is Intel’s “Moorestown”, a power-efficient variant of Intel’s Atom processor that powers laptops and net books. Power and energy-efficiency are a good combination, ensuring you can get maximum mobile enjoyment using less electricity than you’d expect. The precise power of Moorestown is still unknown and whether it can rival the Snapdragon processor found in the
Google Nexus One is also still unknown.
Although the specifications of the LG GW990 are scarce, we can confirm the smartphone has a 5-megapixel camera inbuilt together with GPS ability so you won’t get lost with this clever mobile phone.
Once further details are confirmed, we’ll make additions to this review.
