The Nokia 5630 is one of the phones in the XpressMusic series which was launched quite recently. This series is dedicated to users looking for a music phone with a variety of different features. This handset adopts the candy bar form factor making it stand out from phones like the Nokia 5610 which was in the slider form factor.

The 5630 looks good in a glossy black design. The phone is slim and comes in 3 different color combinations- Black with red, Grey with blue, and Grey with chrome. Of this the black with red is the best as it has a more urban feel to it. The display is nice and bright. The brightness is adjusted using an ambient light sensor which lights up the keypad as well. This controls the brightness easily and is a feature shared by other phones in the series as well, such as the 5310. The numeric keypad is easy to use as the keys are large and pretty well spaced. Texting is easy using this phone. The phone is also light, making it very pocket friendly unlike some other phones in the market such as the Motorola Aura.

Nokia also has many nice multimedia functions including voice controls, allowing the user to use voice commands to activate profiles, play music and playlists, control Bluetooth connectivity, activate the sound recorder and use the “Say and Play” music search option. The Say and Play music search application allows the user to select a song from his/her music collection by saying the name of the song or the name of the artist. It reduces the hassle required to find a song. The phone can also be synchronized with the PC using the USB connection. This allows the user to transfer a wide variety of entertainment files such as music, videos, pictures etc easily. The camera is also good with a powerful dual LED flash as well as red eye reduction. This camera can’t be compared to the N95 or Samsung Steel, but it does capture clear shots and is definitely above average for a mid range music phone. One big improvement of this phone over other phones in the series is the inclusion of a 3.5 mm port instead of a 2.5 mm allowing the user to use a variety of headphones.
