From Verizon comes Palm Pre Plus, the dazzling new generation
Palm Pre. The Pre Plus is not that different from the standard Pre version, though. It has some good old touch of the Pre with some tweaks so trading-in the old Pre right off the bat is not quite convincing. For starters, buying a brand new
Palm Pre Plus is worth it.
Multitasking Capability
Palm Pre Plus is known more for its WebOS operating platform. Its WebOS platform has advantages over
BlackBerry and the
iPhone as it runs in a manner that is less-cluttered as the Android-powered phones. It is a phone with a knack for some really excellent organizing jobs.
It allows users to flip over several active items just by dragging a finger over the phone screen or gesture area down the screen. A user can flip over calls, music, messaging, games and applications without closing other items. Messaging and information on social networking are organized by contact. A user can flip over various types of contact information in noticeably organized way. This truly smoothens the clutter common among messaging systems. Its camera has 3.0 megapixel that takes superb pictures. The Pre and Plus have similar speeds but Plus is faster with multiple applications capability.
Design
Plus designers had simplicity in mind in producing Plus. To achieve it, they decided to have a touch screen phone and a few keys that blend in the same shade as the phone’s black coating. Like its predecessor, it comes with a sliding curved keypad. Its keys are soft and gel-like that is quite a change for those who tap on their PC keyboards the whole day. With a little getting used to, keying in will be as easy as it can be.
Its power button is on the phone’s top right. Its volume keys are on its left side. A 3.5 mm headset jack is on its top. A micro USB charger or cord is also on its right side. At the back of the phone are its camera lens and speaker. The phone has a 3.1-inch screen. Its width runs at 2.3 inches. It is 3.9 inches long and a little less than an inch thick. It weighs at about 4.89 ounces. It is packed with lithium-ion powered battery and it comes with an AC phone charger, micro USB cable, stereo headset, a carry pouch and a phone guide.
Connectivity and Storage
Palm Pre Plus is WiFi-ready and it can connect to fast and reliable 3G network. It is not only capable of connecting to the internet in many ways, other devices can connect to the web through it as well. It turns itself into a WiFi hotspot capable of accommodating five devices max. This function may be turned on or off as desired and this is the new feature of Palm Pre Plus. Laptop users can be sure of cost savings with this phone.
It has a 16GB memory that could be rigged with higher cap microSD card. USB mass storage can also be supported by Plus, without having to add up a memory card, that is a whole lot of memory for a phone. Given the many applications and information it supports, not all 16GB comes free. Nevertheless, a 15GB’s worth of memory for additional operations and downloads is a welcome.
