Details
The screen on this thing is something to behold. It´s the biggest ever feature on a mobile phone device, but it´s not just size that counts. Using AMOLED technology, the i8000 not only has crisp, bright, nicely contrasted images (running at a really fast and smooth rate) but all this power is kept at a power consumption minimum. Not only that, but the technology is also exceptionally thin, meaning that the phone is a very impressive 12mm thick.
The phone itself is also lovely to hold – not heavy, with fantastic elliptical curves and a lovely gloss finish, this is a phone not only to be proud of but to show off.
The TouchWiz UI (Samsung´s software that utilises the Windows Mobile platform) is also really great to use – everything is animated in a lovely, interesting but never distracting way, and the ´3D-cube´ navigation model is a great touch.
The camera many not have a xenon flash as stating to be feature on some phones, but with dual LED instead, and packing 8.1 megapixels, we think this is a tiny oversight and not something to be overly concerned with.
So, all-in-all, there´s few better smartphone´s out there. And if you´re one of those people who just cna´t follow the herd and go the iPhone route, this is a cracking alternative, and one that has at least one over on Apple´s masterpiece: that 3.7” AMOLED screen blows the iPhone´s out of the water.
